To introduce myself as an independent consultant specialized in information, documents and records management I have come a long way, which helped me to accumulate valuable experiences.

I started working in the field of information management in 1982. Since then I have been fortunate to participate in leading projects in records, document and information management domain, both in public and private sectors, mainly in Spain and Latin America. From there information management has evolved rapidly, making my career an exciting challenge of adapting and learning.

I have practiced independent consultancy within three different projects. In 1984, I founded together with other partners one of the Spanish pioneers services companies in the field of information management, Gabinete de Asesores Documentalistas, S.A., which offered services to libraries, archives and any sort of organizations in the need of organizing their information. From 1996 to 2010, I was Partner-Director of Inforárea, a consultant company specializing in organization of information that was a reference in the Spanish and Latin American market. From 2011 I start my own project offering my services as an independent consultant in records, document and information management for developing national and international projects.

The application of computer technology to information processing is now inseparable from the management of information, so despite my initial training in humanities field, I feel very close to IT professionals. My understanding of the tools and information structures has always been a great help to help the dialogue between IT people and end users in the implementation of information systems.

Since 2004,  when records management working group was constitued within CTN50 AENOR (Information and documentation) for working on the translation and adoption of ISO 15489 (2001), standardization has become in my "other activity." From that year I represent Spain in the ISO Subcommittee TC46/SC11- Archives / records management (TC46/SC11). Since then I have actively participated in the drafting and development of ISO TC46/SC11 products.

Training is also part of my work, I have been teaching both in academic education and specialized courses for professionals. I happily participate in almost all events that I am invited as a speaker specialized in different aspects of managing information, documents and records.

Before joining the consulting field I worked in the Information Unit of Arthur Andersen's Madrid office. I also did a "stage" specializing in managing information and documentation in the European Commission offices in Madrid and Brussels.

Although I was born in Madrid, my life story is closely linked to Galicia and Latin America. In the first case, because Ribadeo, the village of my grandfather, is where I live and where whenever I can, I work very comfortable. The second, because I spent part of my childhood in Venezuela, a country that welcomed  with open arms my mother's family , also  because I share my life from many years ago with a Peruvian, and lastly because disseminated in some Latin American countries I have some of my very great friends. But also my work has taken and takes me to many different places and in all of them I like to feel myself as from the place.
